"Psychology Research Job on Effect of Exercise and Role Models"

Are you interested in gaining clinical experience with adolescents? Dr.
Dawn Wilson in the Psychology Department is the Principal Investigator for
an NIH-funded school-based trial, Active by Choice Today (ACT), which aims
to increase physical activity in sixth graders all across various South
Carolina middle schools. The project is currently in need of interviewers
as part of an innovative component to the program called Strategic Self
Presentation (SSP). Undergraduates will have the opportunity to conduct
*one-on-one interviews with students* in the program, asking them to
portray themselves as a positive role model for someone who is physically
active. Undergraduates will be trained in *clinical skills* and will also
gain an understanding of various *thereotical constructs* that are
important in this component of the project.

Undergraduates interested in this position will need to be available two
of three days a week (Mon/Tues/Thurs) during both the fall AND spring from
about 1pm-7pm (though not all those hours will be used). Undergraduates
should expect this position to be about a 10-hr per week committment. This
position pays $9/hour and will run fro mid-November until the end of
February. Also, mandatory weekly staff meetings will take place beginning
in the fall of the school year until the end of February.

Please contact Michelle Segal (segal@sc.edu or 978-7508) to set up an
interview or find out more about the position.
