Undergraduate Research and Scholarship Resources and Opportunities List

If You Need:

Student STIPEND and/ or funds for RESEARCH MATERIALS or SUPPLIES:

• Exploration Scholars Program for students in Arts, Music, Humanities,Journalism, or any other field dealing with more qualitative or exploratory scholarship methods. Business, Law, Public Health, Social Work, Education and other currently under-represented fields for undergraduate scholarship may also apply under this program.

• Science Undergraduate Research Fellowship Program for students in science, engineering, mathematics or related fields.

Students in fields such as the social sciences may apply in either category depending on the nature of the project. Funds for TRAVEL associated with research or scholarship:

• Travel Support Grants are available to cover the cost of travel to collect information/data for your project or to travel to relevant professional conferences to present the results of your work. Please note that all travel funds must be formally approved and a Travel Authorization form submitted PRIOR to initiation of the travel.

Funds to support your SENIOR THESIS:

• Normally you cannot receive financial support for research during semesters when you are earning academic course credit, but Senior Thesis Grants provide you with up to $1,500 for materials or supplies necessary for the completion of your thesis regardless of whether or not you are concurrently enrolled in SCHC 499.

• Please note that equipment purchased with SCHC funds becomes the property of the SCHC and may therefore be available free of charge to current students working on their senior thesis. Please check with Christian Price (priceca@schc.sc.edu) to determine if the equipment you need (e.g. external hard drives, microphones, cameras, etc.) is currently available.
