All incoming freshmen are encouraged to apply to live in the Honors Residence. Our state-of-the-art building is one of the most desirable residence halls on campus.
The Honors Residence has suite-style apartments on the upper floors with classrooms, lounges, and a café on the ground floor. The six-story, co-ed building houses 537 honors freshmen and upperclassmen.
Honors College students can choose to eat at any of the 25 restaurants on campus, but the Honors Residence offers a great dining hall and a Starbucks café in-house. Our dining hall serves delicious, healthy food featuring fresh, in-season produce from local farms. In fact, at least 25% of the menu is Certified South Carolina Grown!
We offer specially-designated options for students with dietary restrictions, including vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free dishes.
The Honors Residence’s first floor is a public space, available to the entire campus. The residence hall also provides private community areas specifically for Honors College students where they can socialize, study, or just hang out.
The weather is nice most of the year, and our students love to be outside. Our outdoor courtyard has chairs and tables, rocking chairs on a shaded patio, and a large green space for lounging.
Fun and Games
The Honors Residence hosts frequent events to promote a sense of fun and community. Recent events have included trivia competitions, casino night, and Woodstock, with 60’s-style costumes and musical performances by Honors College students.
We also have a fully-stocked game room on the first floor that includes a pool table, a ping pong table, a big screen TV, board game tables and a video game area.
Three lecture-style smart classrooms and a conference room are all part of the facility. Many Honors classes are held in these rooms, so students can attend class without having to leave the building! The rooms are also available for honors students to use on weekday evenings and anytime during the weekend.
Faculty and staff offices are located on the first floor of the Honors Residence to give students convenient access to Honors resources. Our course work can be challenging, so we make it easy for students to get personal attention from our faculty and staff.
Located on the corner of Blossom and Main Streets, the Honors Residence is right in the heart of downtown Columbia, close to:
