(Drop Everything And Lead)

2011 Leadership Program

August 26-28, 2011

This program is designed to provide honors college students with the opportunity to develop themselves as future leaders of the Carolina community. It is a three day program during the month of August designed to impart students with the knowledge and skill to emerge as confident leaders in their class. Students will tackle and facilitate discussions on key community issues and develop critical interpersonal skills. They will have the unique oppportunity to meet with several leaders and gain a personal perspective on leadership from a national leader. Last year, our speaker was former Secretary of Education Richard Riley. Additionally, students will plan and execute a community or university initiative during the month of October under the mentorship of previous DEAL participants. In November, participants will be recognized at a reception held at the Honors Residence Hall.

For more information, please see the Spring 2011 Honors College Newsletter or contact Dr. Edmund Sanchez.  Applications are available here! We look forward to receiving your application!

“What the DEAL program has given me, though, is a new perspective on all the things that I can do at college that I would never have thought of before.” –Avnika Amin
