Pre-Professional Advising

The Honors College offers personal, specialized pre-professional advising for students and has achieved medical school acceptance rates that are higher significantly than the national average.

The single most useful action you can take during this exploratory phase is to gain experiences in the relevant field. Job shadowing and volunteering or interning are integral. These experiences will help you determine if this is the career path for you. These experiences then form a critical foundation for the credibility of your application to professional school. The USC Office of Pre-Professional Advising is available to help you find these experiences locally.

Students considering a pre-professional designation are also encouraged explore online resources and to make an appointment and speak with either Dr. Brooke Roper (JD) regarding pre-law interests or Rebecca Shrader regarding pre-med, pre-dental or pre-vet interests.   We encourage you to make these exploratory appointments as early as possible.  Continue to see your regular Honors advisor for official advisement during the exploratory phase, but please come and talk to us as often as you would like while you are pondering.
