The Office of the Provost accepts applications each fall for Internal Grant programs for faculty at the USC Columbia campus and the Regional Palmetto College campuses. Competitive grants are available for Creative and Performing Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, Pedagogy, and Visiting Scholar Grants. Since 2010, more than 450 grants have been awarded to support full-time faculty, regardless of rank or track.

Peter Binev, professor in the department of mathematics, received the 2016 Office of the Provost Visiting Scholar Grant to collaborate with Zineb Saghi, Ph.D., in August 2016. Binev and Saghi formulated a research program aiming at improvement of the procedures of spectral electron microscopy data assimilation.
UofSC Professors Thaddeus Davis and Tanya Wideman-Davis have been collaborating on Migratuse Ataraxia, an interdisciplinary project featuring movement, live art, sound and gastronomy. The project was awarded a 2017 Office of the Provost grant for Creative and Performing Arts in 2017.
Schwebel, a professor in the College of Arts and Sciences, received a humanities grant to support her research on the children’s novel Island of the Blue Dolphins and the historical figure whose life it fictionalizes, a 19th century California Native woman.
