Are you compassionate? Do you enjoy helping other people? Do the concepts of inclusivity and accessibility of education matter to you?
Whether you are seeking an undergraduate degree, someone changing careers or already a certified teacher, you can complete a Special Education degree. The Special Education programs at the University of South Carolina are designed for anyone who wishes to get involved with helping students with disabilities.
The Programs
Programs include certification and endorsement programs, a B.A. program, master’s degrees, and a Ph.D. program. You will be able to specialize in many different areas of special education including multi-categorical, severe and multiple, behavior analysis, leadership, and more.
If you are seeking to become a special education teacher and are not yet a certified teacher, you will be interested in the B.A. or M.A.T. in Special Education. Current teachers looking to add special education certification complete the M.Ed. in Special Education.
Your Career
Being a Special Education classroom teacher is a rewarding career – you will have a specialized set of skills in an in-demand industry and make differences in the lives of people who might otherwise not have the same opportunities that many of us do.
