Biography
Dr. Rebecca Widener is a native of South Carolina. Prior to medical school, she became involved with Family Connection of SC, a nonprofit for families who have children with special needs. Through them, Dr. Widener became interested in pediatric care. She attended medical school at the Medical University of South Carolina, then pursued a residency in pediatrics at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY. After serving as chief resident her last year there, she went on to Birmingham, AL, to specialize in pediatric infectious diseases at The Children's Hospital, University of Alabama. Dr. Widener is excited to be joining Palmetto Children's Hospital and USC as a pediatric infectious disease specialist this year.
