Bachelor of Science in Nursing

Traditional BSN Plan of Study

The curriculum for the bachelor’s degree in nursing has two levels or divisions - pre-nursing lower division and upper division.

In the pre-nursing lower division, students take a core of general education classes, such as English, history, math, and basic science and nursing courses that focus on health and wellness, the history of nursing, nutrition and pathophysiology.

A prescribed number of pre-nursing lower division courses must be completed before students can apply to the upper division. Acceptance into the lower division program does not guarantee a student will progress to the upper division level. The process is competitive and based on progression GPA and interview/essay.

Upper division students combine clinical hours in a variety of settings with classroom instruction and work in the college's patient simulation lab. Students must attend school full-time and take the classes in the sequence offered.

RN-BSN Online Program

The University of South Carolina College of Nursing - Columbia is now offering an Online RN-BSN program for Nurses who hold an unencumbered RN license.  The program is flexible around your schedule and can be completed in as little as 12 months.

Note:  Due to current circumstances the RN-BSN program will not be accepting new students until further notice.

Our traditional BSN program is currently accepting applicants.
