Prior to entering academia, Dr. Jones served for more than 30 years in nursing leadership roles in home health care, hospice and community-based care settings. Her leadership roles included VP of Operations, SVP of Public Policy & Research and Chief Clinical Officer for a national home health and hospice company. She has also been a nurse entrepreneur, as co-owner of a geriatric care management company. Professional service activities have included serving on CMS’s Technical Expert Panel for Quality of Care Patient Star Ratings, and service as a board member for the Alliance for Home Health Quality and Innovation (AHHQI). She is currently on the board of directors of Community Health Accreditation Partners (CHAP), an accrediting body for community-based care based in Washington, DC.
Dr. Jones earned her BSN from Niagara University in Niagara Falls, NY, where she was a ROTC cadet. Following graduation, she served for four years as an Army Nurse Corps Officer. She earned a MSN in Nursing Administration from George Mason University, and a DNP from Southeastern Louisiana University. She held an adjunct faculty position at Belmont University in Nashville, TN before joining the College of Nursing full-time in January 2018.
Dr. Jones teaches nursing leadership courses in both the MSN and DNP programs.
Scholarship Interests: community based care, caring as a leadership competency, caring in academia.
