Why you chose to pursue your degree within the ASPH: I knew I wanted to help people in my future career but I was not exactly sure how I wanted to do so, so I started out as exercise science but found public health through that major and loved it! I always had this thought that you can only help people in the medical field through clinical experience, which as important as those fields are, is not true. BA of public health gives you so much freedom to find what interests you and expand on those ideas while also being able to help people and change peoples lives. My public health degree allows me to experience so much of the real world while building that career path for myself that I know will be fulfilling and beneficial.
Advice for future students: If you want something, it is worth putting your time and effort too! It will pay off in the end and you will regret it if you don't. At the same time though, do not be afraid of change. If something is not working out how you planned or you change your mind that is perfectly fine and it all works out! So embrace it and always do what is best for you and what is in your own best interest because this whole college experience is about you and it is okay to be a little bit selfish about your own future!
