Alumna Tish Guerin discusses the variety of opportunities with a social work degree.

Master of Social Work

A Master of Social Work from the University of South Carolina will provide you with the skills to work with individuals, families, groups and communities. Whether you are interested in direct client service, advocacy or policy, our program will give you the knowledge and skills necessary to be a leader in the social work profession.

What Can You Expect

The Master of Social Work program provides the knowledge and skills to work with individuals, families, groups and communities. Students are prepared to be leaders in the profession as advanced generalist social workers.

To see so many individuals working towards making our society a better place, speaking out against injustice, researching methods to better help those in need and working to rewrite unfair policies on a daily basis just made my heart leap and it made me say to myself, “These are the people I need, not want, but NEED to learn from.” Going elsewhere just wasn’t going to cut it. To say, with pride, that I am an alumnus, is such an honor to me.
