Linguistics
Linguistics is the scientific study of language in all its aspects, including biological, cognitive, developmental, educational, historical and sociocultural.
Graduate Degrees
The dual emphasis on the theoretical and applied aspects of linguistics is one of the major strengths of the Linguistics Program, and the great variety of research conducted by our faculty and graduate students is a reflection of the intellectual diversity that characterizes the program. You may choose the Master of Arts in Linguistics, which provides students with the broadest possible background in linguistics, or the specialized Ph.D. program. The teaching certificate program prepares future teachers of English as a second or foreign language to apply their skills in settings around the world.
